DOI: 10.3109/00016357.2015. Objective: Aim of this pilot study was to test if molar interferences in symptomatic patients are suggesting altered condylographic tracings in terms of an internal TMJ structural disturbance, in particular an increased transversal joint mobility higher than 0.6mm in guided mediotrusive movements of both joints. The relationship between the morphology of the curvature of laterotrusion facets and tooth-guided tracings of the mediotrusive condyle path was studied in 20 probands with normal function. The varying inclinations of the dominant laterotrusion facets in cuspid-protected or group-guided occlusion has no bearing on the angle of the mediotrusive paths relative to the horizontal plane.

The condylar pathways were analyzed by the comparison of the variation within one experimenter to the variations within the others. For the protrusive pathways, a significant difference was not observed between experimenters. 8.

The varying inclinations of the dominant laterotrusion facets in cuspid-protected or group-guided occlusion has no bearing on the angle of the mediotrusive paths relative to the horizontal plane. Additionally, Ingervall18 found no differences in maximum laterotrusion between 10-year-old girls and women aged 20 years, suggesting that in girls, the range of movement of the mandible reaches adult level by 10 years of age. In this study, we found a significant difference in laterotrusion between the children's group and the adult group. Laterotrusion y mediotrusive

Removing or lessening mediotrusive (balancing) interferences. Reducing excessive cusp steepness on the laterotrusion (working) contacts. Eliminating gross occlusal disharmonies. Rechecking tooth contact relationships. Polishing all rough surfaces (Carranza et al., 2018; Rosenstiel et al., 2015). In 2006, Onodera et al, in a sample of 86 subjects with and without temporomandibular joint (TMJ) symptoms, and with the help of Bruxchecker®, reported that the dental wear patterns in SB that were most frequently presented in laterotrusion were the incisor-canine-premolar (ICP: 38.9%) with mediotrusive wear or balanced areas (63.9%) in Posterior mediotrusive contacts may interfere with the AG, thus preventing the disengagement of the posterior teeth during mandibular movements. Electromyographic studies show that the elevator muscles on the mediotrusive balancing side decrease in activity in the presence of a balancing contact, which supports the notion of a protective process.
